Swiss National Day

1 August is Swiss National Day! And it brought another day of celebrating. In the early morning groups have left Our Chalet for a day hike to a famous mountain in Adelboden valley called Elsigen. Later in the evening guests and staff will join celebrations of cultural programme and fireworks in Adelboden.

It is a Swiss tradition to go hiking in the mountains on the national day and in the evening light a fire on top of the mountain. For every guest and volunteer it is a unique experience staying in Our Chalet and seeing dozens of fires burning from mountain tops along the valley, long into the night.
