Ready Steady Go 2012...Success!
15 May 2012
Every year at Our Chalet we organise a two week volunteering programme called Ready Steady Go Weeks.
This year the event brought together 16 volunteers from Oman, Tunisia, UK, USA, Venezuela and Canada so it was a truly international event.
It took place from 1-15 May 2012.
The main objectives of this years’ event were preparation of the Chalets for a busy Summer season, such as deep cleaning and tidying up jobs.
We have also opened the outdoor on-site buildings including the Squirrel house, Camp house and the Baby Chalet.
One of the projects was also tidying up the toolshed where we keep all our tools and other maintenance equipment.
Within the programme volunteers had a joint staff day out and two free days which many used for exploring the Adelboden valley and the village, reaching their dreams of touching the snow for the first time in their life, hiking a few mountains as well as exploring towns and relaxing after a busy working days.
A day dedicated to the Community service, volunteers spent helping with tree clearing after the high wind storms happening in Switzerland a few weeks ago. More than a hundred trees were uprooted during the storm. They worked hard but thoroughly enjoyed their service day at KISC (Kandersteg International Scout Centre).
The event included a range of interesting group activities and evening programmes which brought us to the final ceremony and closing around the campfire with many promises of returning to Our Chalet and a few tears.
We would like to thank all the Ready Steady Go Volunteers for the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm as well as fun and friendships. We hope to see you all come back to Our Chalet soon.
