Games Go Global is a new sport-oriented WAGGGS badge that is available in Gold, Silver and Bronze forms and can be adapted to suit any age range.

By completing the badge activities, girls and young women will experience the excitement of Olympic sports, understand the physical, spiritual and cultural aspects of the Games, and learn about this year’s host country, Great Britain.

Global Conversations website

Global Conversations

Global Conversations is a new blog website created by Girlguiding UK in partnership with WAGGGS. The website is designed to help Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to voice their opinions on topics related to the seven official Olympic and Paralympic Values.

They can do this by writing a blog entry for the website, by commenting on other blog entries, or by using the website as a basis for discussions in their own Girl Guide and Girl Scout meetings.

We want Global Conversations to be as global as the Olympic Games themselves – so, no matter what country you live in, we encourage you to write a blog entry and submit it to programme@girlguiding.org.uk with ‘Global Conversations blog’ as the subject heading. The blog covers a different theme each month – see below for the schedule.

Global Conversations schedule

The website is based on the seven Olympic and Paralympic Values, and focuses on a different value each month.

You can write about any way in which you have experienced the Olympic and Paralympic values through Girl Guiding or Girl Scouting. Perhaps you did an activity that was based around Equality, or maybe being a Girl Guide or Girl Scout has taught you the importance of Courage. Your blog should be around 300 words in length – include photographs if you can. Respect and Friendship have already been covered in March and April. The remaining values are:

  • May: Excellence
  • June: Inspiration
  • July: Determination
  • August: Courage
  • September: Equality

Please note: Blog entries may be edited if they are too long, and submission of a blog entry does not guarantee that it will be published.
