Beyond Boundaries: Leadership in diverse environments - WLDP Event

6 June 2012

Ishøj (Denmark), 18 to 22 August 2012

This WLDP event provides an opportunity for Associations across WAGGGS to explore the concepts and themes of leadership development in a variety of settings and backgrounds. The event brings together people in decision making positions within Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Associations to share experiences and learn from each other. The WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme (WLDP) will be used to stimulate thinking and discussions.

This event will provide a forum for decision makers in Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting associations to share challenges and raise awareness on leadership development trends; to learn and discuss about leadership theories and practices; to analyse and consider the conditions and tools that can help addressing the diversity in leadership approaches across WAGGGS members.

The objectives are:

  • To explore leadership theories and practices in a global context with special focus on promoting and fostering leadership development in single sex and coeducational settings
  • To explore the concept of leadership in diversity with special attention to gender, cultural and intergenerational perspectives
  • To provide the opportunity for participating Member Organizations to share experiences and to engage in a reflection on diversity in leadership approaches within and outside the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement
  • To provide a learning platform to participating Member Organizations on themes connected to innovative leadership development practices

The event is organized by WAGGGS and the Joint Committee of Girl Guides in Denmark. Deadline for applications is the 4th of June.

The event is open to decision makers (men and women) at national level from all WAGGGS Member Organizations, i.e. board members or representatives with specific responsibilities who are able to take the learning back home and raise awareness. Particular attention will be given to ensuring that participants represent a wide range of perspectives and approaches within WAGGGS; both Associations working in coeducational settings and single sex settings are encouraged to participate.
